Critical Power Systems are the foundation that keeps data centres alive, stable, and resilient. They provide unbroken, high-quality electrical supply to mission-critical equipment such as servers, cooling infrastructure, and communication networks.Β 

A critical power system is more than just electricity delivery: it is a network of interconnected protection, generation, distribution, and control systems that safeguard uptime.Β 

Within a data centre environment, any loss of power, no matter how brief, can trigger service interruption, data corruption, or even catastrophic financial losses.Β 

Therefore, understanding the role and operation of these systems is essential for all technical and support personnel working within this sector.

The term β€œcritical” reflects the zero-tolerance approach to downtime.Β 

Power architecture within data centres is designed with redundancy and resilience at its core, incorporating systems such as Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), battery banks, Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), and backup generators.Β 

These components ensure that even during a utility outage or fault condition, electrical supply remains continuous and stable.Β
