The objective of this module is to provide learners with the essential awareness and knowledge required to operate safely, confidently, and professionally within both live and construction data centre environments.Â
By completing this training, you will gain a clear understanding of how data centres function, why they are critical to global infrastructure, and the strict expectations placed upon everyone working within them.Â
The module introduces the fundamentals of Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS), explaining key differences between live and construction sites and clarifying acronyms such as RAMS (Risk Assessment and Method Statement), PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), and BMS (Building Management System) to ensure all terminology is accessible.Â
You will develop an awareness of professional behaviours expected in high-security facilities, typical mistakes to avoid, and the processes and procedures that govern access, work authorisation, and emergency response.Â
In addition, you will be introduced to the main work packages found in a data centre project, including structured cabling, containment systems, SmartHands IMACD (Install, Move, Add, Change, Delete), and critical power systems, giving you a holistic view of the environment you will be entering.Â
Ultimately, this module is designed to act as a gateway into the InfraGrowth learning pathway, ensuring that new entrants to the sector have a strong baseline of knowledge, safety awareness, and professional conduct before progressing to more technical or trade-specific training.
